We are currently seeking a full-time Family Physician to serve our client population. NorWest Community Health Centres is a community-based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services. We belong to a network of provincial community health centres.

In this position, you will have a great career opportunity to work to full scope as a valued member of the Community Health Centres with an inter-professional care team. The Family Physician will provide primary care to clients within a care model that emphasizes disease prevention, harm reduction, health promotion, education, and client empowerment. Our Thunder Bay team is comprised of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Therapists, Midwives, Dietitians, Community Health Workers and Administrative support staff.

This competitive salaried position (up to $292,366) provides an excellent compensation and benefits package, including the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and professional development and educational opportunities. A relocation cost allowance is negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPSO license and member of CMPA.
  • Medical degree and family residency from a recognized university.
  • Experience in a combination of hospital and community settings and/or public health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues, particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured),.
  • Experience in mental health and addictions medicine will be considered an asset and is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
