2007: CACHCA and AOHC co-host the 6th pan-Canadian Conference on CHCs, in Toronto, Ontario, launching a major campaign focused on achieving the Second Stage of Medicare.
The conference and campaign build on Tommy Douglas’s original recommendation to Canadians to move toward a “second stage/phase of Medicare”, meaning a re-orientation of Canada’s health system and services toward keeping people healthy in the first place and providing the right type of care, by the right provider(s) when it is needed.
Awareness of the Second Stage of Medicare concept and vision builds and becomes a core pillar of CACHCA’s efforts to contribute to a high-quality, accessible and sustainable health system for all Canadians.
