Policy and Advocacy
CACHC represents and works with Community Health Centres and provincial CHC associations across Canada. Collectively, we give voice to the needs of individuals, families, and communities across the country and important policy actions that will improve health, wellbeing and a strong country for all.
The goal of CACHC’s national advocacy strategy is to ensure sustainable and reliable funding and support for CHC operations moving forward and to have the best systems in place to work with key partners in this journey. This collaborative approach ensures that targeted advocacy initiatives will address local needs, while amplifying the collective voice of CHCs, and advancing the CHC movement to ensure improved and equitable access to quality healthcare nationwide.
CACHC’s participation in national conversations on healthcare and social service systems will direct and provide crucial insight into future plans, and support the work of CHCs to ensure healthy people and healthy communities across Canada.
Why CHCs? Why Now?
Community Health Centres across Canada provide an innovative and integrated model of health care and social service delivery, and reach individuals and communities from diverse, intersectional, and equity-deserving populations to support population health and well-being. CHCs provide holistic and cost-effective care, achieving important outcomes in improving health and reducing health system costs, demonstrating that CHCs are an effective, economic, and necessary model of primary health care delivery.
With appropriate and sustained funding, CHCs across Canada can make a huge difference for those who need it the most and reduce the burden and strain on emergency medicine and acute care hospitals.
