Nurse Practitioner - Kwae Kii Winn Managed Alcohol Program

0.7 FTE Permanent

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking a 0.7 FTE permanent Nurse Practitioner, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide Nurse Practitioner assistance to the Kwae Kii Winn Managed Alcohol Program, including prescribing of a safe supply of alcohol, a full primary care scope of practice, and substance use health teaching for clients of Kwae Kii Win. In addition, with the support of a nurse, they will provide walk in primary care to individuals staying at the Shelter House once per week.

The position has a competitive salary and the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan is an optional benefit.

Qualifications:

  • BScN from a recognized university.
  • Certificate in the Extended Class from CNO.
  • Knowledge of managed alcohol administration is an asset, or a keen willingness to train.
  • Broad knowledge, background and interest in the practice of community health, addictions and harm reduction.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working across all genders with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
