1995: Building on momentum from the 1993 gathering of Community Health Centres from across Canada, the Canadian Alliance of Community Health Centre Associations (CACHCA) is born. The alliance is established as a pan-Canadian assembly of provincial CHC associations, with founding members located in Manitoba, Ontario, Québec and Saskatchewan.
Later that year, in December, CACHCA is well-represented at the first-ever international conference on Community Health Centres, held in Montreal, Québec. Before a large international assembly, including key leaders from the World Health Organization and other global partners, members of the CACHCA Board of Directors deliver a variety of presentations focused on CHCs across Canada. A core theme of the global event is the expanding role of health promotion within primary health care services.
