One of over 15 Aboriginal community-governed Community Health Centres in Ontario, the award-winning Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health provides a wide range of medical clinics, social services and support, and youth programs for Ottawa’s nearly 40,000 Aboriginal people.
In May 2013, Wabano celebrated the grand opening of its new building at 299 Montreal Road in Ottawa, a 25,000 square foot complex that is the heart, identity and expression of Aboriginal people, designed by internationally renowned architect Douglas Cardinal.

Sandy Hill is a mixed community in east-central Ottawa. Its tree-lined streets are home to embassies and diplomatic residences, a large subsidized housing complex, Canada’s largest bilingual university, a number of rooming houses, high-rise apartments with large immigrant populations, middle-class and elegant older homes, and homeless people.
Within this diverse community composed of all income groups, the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre (SHCHC) provides care and support to clients from all walks of life.
